Product Description

GelRed Nucleic Acid Stain is a product that replaces Ethidium Bromide (EB) for staining DNA and RNA in gels. As a fluorescent dye that binds to the minor groove region of the nucleic acid double helix, GelRed has the same spectral characteristics as EB, and thus can be used with the same detection system as EB.

Storage Conditions

Store at room temperature and transport at room temperature. The shelf life is two years.

Experimental Procedures

Pre-electrophoresis Gel Staining: Add GelRed at 1:10000 ratio to agarose gel solution.

Post-electrophoresis Gel Staining: Add GelRed to 0.1 M NaCl at 3:10000 ratio, stain for 30 minutes with shaking.

Staining dsDNA, ssDNA, RNA in agarose and polyacrylamide gels
